It’s finally the weekend! We’ve had a busy week between mom and dad getting back from Antigua late Sunday, dad picking me up from Grandma, Grandpa, and Max’s Monday morning, mom and dad picking Jack up from boot camp Tuesday night, dad bringing me to boot camp for a day Wednesday, and then just getting through the rest of the work week!
Mom and dad had a great week in Antigua though, it was paradise!
Though mom missed us a lot! Especially when she saw someone going for a beach walk with their dog! Mom pictures her paradise like this:
Though this is probably more like the reality:
But of course mom still wouldn’t have it any other way! When mom saw this crab guy she laughed picturing me running away from it and Jack trying to paw and play with it and then running back with it dangling from his lip!
Yup, we would make great beach dogs!
We’ve been busy doing some blog updating. Some you won’t notice because it’s background stuff, but hopefully other changes like this one will make your experience hanging out here more enjoyable. One of the tasks we’ve been working on is how to make our older posts easier for you to find. We now have well over 200 posts (Yikes!) and realize that some of our best posts aren’t getting seen anymore. We’ve already moved The Leash Trick post to have its own page on our tab bar since it’s the most popular, so we decided to copy that and make a visual category page for you as well! See the tabs?:
Before we did this update, if you wanted to look for any previous posts then you had to keep scrolling back on the main page or go over to our category list which looked like this:
Then when you clicked on a category, it brought you to this:
Not very helpful when you had to keep hitting previous to get to the next page! But now we’ve organized them into 8 visible categories:
And they now look like this:
And when you click on a link it will take you directly to that post, or you can choose to see more from a category and it will take you to a sub-category page where every single post in that category is laid out for you to view like this:
Much better, right? It’s a work in progress right now though. Currently all the Sanity Saviors, Recipes, Jack’s Days, Awesome Products, and Health Tips are archived and ready to go and we’ll move on until they are all up! They should all be available by the end of the week. In the meantime, your still welcome to search for them the old pain-in-the-butt way.
Did you know that there is a huge dog blogging world out there? There is!
We started our blog because we found it hard to find good information regarding Dexter’s grain intolerance and hoped to help other people like us out there. We have also been fortunate enough to find some really amazing blogs that we pick up tips from here and there and most importantly these blogs are by people like us. They love their dogs as much as we love ours and so we can relate to them easily and share in there laughs and heart aches. You can check out our blogroll for a list of our favourite blogs. Part of being part of the dog blog community means that sometimes you get to participate in some blog games. Life with Arie (one of our fav btw) has tagged us in this blog Q&A game. Life with Arie was tagged by Life with Desmond, another great blog to check out! So here are our answers to the blog tag Q&A game. And since there are 3 of us (well 4 including Aaron/dad but he still hasn’t posted his first post yet so we aren’t including him) we are giving answers from each of us:
1. Describe yourself in 7 words/phrases:
Dexter- Excitable, a runner, a people jumper, a big-time snuggler, wild, fluffy, did I mention excitable?
Jack- A piggy, always thirsty, low energy (compared to Dexter anyways), obedient, a counter surfer (those two contradict each other don’t they?), not a mean bone in my body, goofy.
Mom- My actual name is Angela, I don’t give up- hard headedness? stubborn?, people call me ‘bubbly’ (I don’t know but they always use that same word), passionate, I have bad luck (my mom says if it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck) and so I am extremely hard working because of it (I’ll count that as two phrases), an absolute dog lover.
2. What keeps you up at night?:
Dexter- Nothing, I need my beauty sleep.
Jack- Drinking too much water.
Mom- Jack, from drinking too much water.
3. Who would you like to be?:
Dexter- Me, I have it pretty good. Although I should work on my ‘growing pains‘ list.
Jack- I’m working on a being a well-behaved puppy. It’s easier when mom has treats.
Mom- A millionaire so I can have more shepherds and huskies and spend all day running with them. (Pretty much the opposite of lovely Katherine’s answer from Life with Arie)
4. What are you wearing right now?:
Dexter- Just my collar, mom would never make me wear anything!
Jack- Does being covered in toys count?
Mom- My usual dog walking pants which are a super comfy Nike pull on running pant, and a tank top. Unless I’m working or shopping, I live in them.
5. What scares you?:
Dexter- Nothing, I have big teeth and I did describe myself as wild.
Mom- I’m a super planner and hard worker so I don’t get scared by much. Things that I don’t have control over I tend to avoid thinking about. Which includes Life with Arie’s second answer to this questions.
6. The Best and Worst of Blogging:
Dexter- What’s better than having your own blog?!
Jack- My weekly photo project because I get cheese! I don’t have a worst yet.
Mom- Sharing our experiences and learning form others. It does take time and dedication though.
7. The last website I visited:
Dexter- The Thundering Herd! Jack’s great but living with 6 huskies would be AMAZING! Go Frankie!
Jack- Life with Arie.
Mom- Life with Arie of course!
8. What is one thing you would change about yourself?:
Dexter- I should probably stop being so difficult. And I should stop eating the toilet paper.
Jack- Nothing, I’m an obedient shepherd.
Mom- I should stop being such a neat freak and relax a little. I do have two dogs and one is a shedding part husky. But instead I’ve added the irobot rumba pet series to the top of my Christmas list
9. Slankets- Yes or no?
Dexter- I don’t know what a slanket is but I’ll most likely sniff it and then if it smells good roll on it.
Jack- Can I eat it?
Mom- I have no idea what this is.
10. Tell us something about the dogs/ bloggers who tagged you:
Dexter- I think Arie and I would get along great. We have a lot of the same issues and would understand each other… or maybe just tag team together against our moms. Ya, probably.
Jack- Do you think Arie would let me kiss her? Dexter turns his head away.
Mom- It is great to have found a dog lover who has been through some of the same issues. Grain intolerance, leash ‘issues’ and the fact that we both live in condos/apartments are some of the similarities. And I seriously didn’t even consider over-hydration until Katherine mentioned it to me on one of my posts. The way Jack downs every bowl of water has made me regulate his water to be safe and to stop his wizzing fiascoes. Seriously- I don’t need a Kong for Jack to get in his crate, I just show him a water bowl.
So there you have it. Our Q&A. Thanks to Katherine for tagging us! We are going to in turn tag RumpyDog because we love that husky, their poems, and their rants! And also The (mis) Adventures of Sage because Sage is the best mud puddler EVER!
