Our rope toy that mom bought us a month ago now looks like this:
And yes, that is our floor before mom cleaned on Saturday. Just more proof that mom needs an iRobot! Back to our toy though. We’ve been through quite a few rope toys since Jack and I learned to play tug-of-war together. It’s Jack’s fault though, he takes the game very seriously now. Mom’s getting tired of spending $20 (out of her iRobot fund) for each new rope toy so she decided to make us one! Maybe it will be more durable like our knitted dog bones she made us.
So here is what you need:
That’s it! Mom used some old painting tanks and cut them into 21″ long and 1″ wide strips. We used 10 strips of each colour so 20 strips all together.
Then she just tied a knot at one end, braided it really tight, and knotted the other end.
We love new toy! Jack gobbled it up right away, he knew it was for tug-of-war!
Everyone who reads my blog often knows that I like to sniff stuff out first. But then I liked it too and played some with Jack. After he was done hogging it that is!
We like it a lot and will let you know if it lasts longer then our store bought ones. Mom’s going to make some out of denim next!
Today’s post is for all you DIYers out there! We think that the dog house should have a come back and mom picked this one out.
The plans are pretty simple. Click here for all the details.
Those of you who know mom know that she would never paint my dog house this icky brown colour. She was searching around Pinterest (no surprise there) and found this:
A white pergola with cedar shakes? I’m all for it!
She’d probably add a nice solar light for me too! Here’s a nice grey colour for the siding that would look good with a cedar pergola:
The dog house might as well be stylish right?
All images can be found on Pinterest here.
Are there any dogs out there who have their own dog house?
It’s about time! Out first DIY post! Mom decided to
make knit me up some dog bones with a squeaker inside of course! Here’s the inspiration shot:
And you can find the pattern to this awesome DIY dog toy here from KrisKnits!
This is what mom’s turned out like:
Not bad at all! Mom kept swearing about the seaming though. Something about a mattress stitch and shoulder seam. She says great explanations for the sewing can be found here and here. And of course she had to make the pattern a little bigger for me!
Here are her pattern changes:
I’m quite happy mom made me a new toy! And mom’s pretty happy that I have a toy with ‘quality seaming’ so that she doesn’t have to resew it for me in an hour.
Here I am squeaking the Kong squeaker mom put in it….with my nose.
She made a few trying to get the seams and sizing right. Here’s mine beside the original pattern size. Hmmmm, seems a perfect size for Mojo! (Mojo- if your reading, check your door knob tomorrow!)
What do you think? It’s a great way for any knitters out there to use up some spare wool!
