Our rope toy that mom bought us a month ago now looks like this:
And yes, that is our floor before mom cleaned on Saturday. Just more proof that mom needs an iRobot! Back to our toy though. We’ve been through quite a few rope toys since Jack and I learned to play tug-of-war together. It’s Jack’s fault though, he takes the game very seriously now. Mom’s getting tired of spending $20 (out of her iRobot fund) for each new rope toy so she decided to make us one! Maybe it will be more durable like our knitted dog bones she made us.
So here is what you need:
That’s it! Mom used some old painting tanks and cut them into 21″ long and 1″ wide strips. We used 10 strips of each colour so 20 strips all together.
Then she just tied a knot at one end, braided it really tight, and knotted the other end.
We love new toy! Jack gobbled it up right away, he knew it was for tug-of-war!
Everyone who reads my blog often knows that I like to sniff stuff out first. But then I liked it too and played some with Jack. After he was done hogging it that is!
We like it a lot and will let you know if it lasts longer then our store bought ones. Mom’s going to make some out of denim next!

You coordinated with the new bed! Nice way to use those old shirts.

A friend of mine used some left over fleece fabric to do the same. I'm interested to know how the t-shirt ones last - your boys are pretty strong!

So far mom had to tie a center knot too because the fabric was too stretchy!
